The meaning of our quest
Health and disease manifest in highly variable and diverse ways among individuals, and such diversity must be taken into account in the experimental foundations of Medicine. Oversimplifying, underrepresenting, or excluding certain groups has, over time, created a significant gap in knowledge. Conducting research through a gendered lens reflects the commitment to place the individual—with all their complexities and variables—at the center, rather than focusing solely on the diseases to be treated.
This is the political intention underpinning our research laboratory, where we aim to work differently from the traditional pharmacological approach, which has long been centered on male bodies and has remained binary and exclusionary. We do not claim to change an entire system that needs complete overhaul, but we are certainly committed to laying the groundwork for a new vision in pharmacology.
