FGender pharmacology, are medicines the same for everyone? | Silvia De Francia
Both men and women need to take medications. Yet, until the early 1990s, almost all drugs were tested solely on the male population, excluding the female counterpart in this regard. Consequently, the profile of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, effectiveness, tolerability, and safety differs between the two sexes. Dr. Silvia De Francia, an associate professor at the University of Turin, specializes in clinical pharmacology and gender pharmacology.
